Freezing strawberries can be a great way to save this delicious fruit for future use.   There are numerous uses for strawberries ranging from simply eating them to using them in pies.  If you have purchased strawberries and you are not ready to use them, you can save them by simply freezing them.  This article will explore some of the facts and rules related to strawberries and the process of freezing them.

If you are interested in freezing strawberries and helping them last longer than two months you can apply this next method to your freezing process.  You will want to take 4 cups of water and one cup of sugar.  Boil this together and let it cool a little bit.  While it is cooling you will want to wash your strawberries and take the stems off of them.  Place them into an air tight plastic container.  Then pour the water and sugar mixture over the berries and place them into the freezer.  This will help the strawberries stay fresh for approximately six months.

Another tip that will help the strawberries last for close to six months is to wash them and clean them off as previously mentioned.  When you finished with that you are going to sprinkle them lightly with sugar.  Place them into baggies or air tight plastic container and place them into the freezer.  They will last for the same amount of time if you puree them in your blender before you place them in the freezer.

When freezing strawberries, you are going to want to keep a few simple tips in mind.  If you are simply washing and freezing the berries, you will want to make sure that they are really dry before you place them in the freezer.  This will keep any water from freezing to them and making them difficult to eat at a later date.  You do not have to wait for the strawberries to completely thaw out before you eat them.  You can serve them while they are still slightly frozen.  They make a wonderful frozen treat when served this way.
